  2. While All Star Pediatrics is currently accepting new patients, there is a waiting list. Similar to years past, we have chosen to do this so that we may control the rate of growth of our practice and thus maintain the continuity of care that is so important to us and our existing patients. Starting 9/1/10, All Star Pediatrics is accepting first born newborns only. Our staff will continue to actively work through the families on our new patient wait list. If you are not already on the list, please call the office to sign up. Thank you for your patience!

  3. Beginning in the summer of 2010, All Star Pediatrics will begin using a new form of the Prevnar (Pneumococcal) vaccine. The previous Prevnar vaccine (PCV-7) protected against 7 strains of a bacteria (Pneumococcus) that may cause meningitis, blood infections, ear infections and pneumonias. The newly expanded Prevnar vaccine (PCV-13) will provide our infants and children protection against 6 additional strains of this bacteria. The immunization schedule does not change for this vaccine and remains at 2, 4, 6 and 12 months. The side effect profile, including local soreness and the potential for fever, remains the same, as well. Healthy children who have completed the 4 dose series with PCV-7 and have not yet turned 5 (as well as children with chronic medical conditions who have not yet turned 6) are also recommended to have one additional dose/booster of the PCV-13 vaccine.

    Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine Info

Your provider will be able to discuss this change and the new recommendation further with you at your child's Well Check. As always, we would encourage you to ask any questions you may have about the updated vaccine.

  4. Earlier this year, McNeil Pharmaceuticals recalled many of the once trusted brands of Motrin, Tylenol, Benadryl, and Zyrtec products. We have encouraged families to use generic equivalent products in their place. Below is a link regarding the products in the recall and other useful information:

  5. Sea Isle City, The Outer Banks, Cape Cod, Knoebels ... the summer travel season is here! How safely and effectively are we using our child safety restraints? Please use the link below from the American Academy of Pediatrics as a wonderful refresher about child safety seats, positioning and other recommendations:

  6. We encourage all of our families to call our office with updates for any personal information, new contact information, email addresses, work/cell phone numbers and insurance changes. We strive to have the most up-to-date information for all of our patient families in the event of a question or in case we need to contact you. Thank you for your assistance.

  7. All Star Pediatrics is GOING GREEN! Less than 2 years ago, All Star Pediatrics began the use of our electronic medical record with the hopes of building better charts, more efficient office visits, state of the art immunization tracking and much more. In the process, we cut down immensely on the amount of paper our practice uses on a yearly basis! As well, starting in the fall of 2009, we have installed solar panels above the All Star roof allowing the office to operate with this new energy source. We would encourage you to check out our display monitor in the waiting room which provides information regarding our ability to harness the sun's rays and make All Star a more environmentally friendly office!!!
