First Time Parents

Many of our first time parents have the same questions. Here are some answers to some of the most common questions.

  • What if I am not planning to vaccinate?
  • All Star Pediatrics strongly believes in the importance of immunizations and their role in the health of all children.  You can read our vaccine statement here. If you are not planning to vaccinate, we would respectfully request that you find another provider to care for your child who shares your views.

  • Is All Star affiliated with a particular hospital system?
  • No. All Star Pediatrics is able to refer patients to any hospital system (insurance permitting)

  • Do the providers see newborns in the hospital?
  • No. All Star Pediatrics is a 100% office based practice. None of the providers see patients in the hospital. We do maintain close relationships with the providers at most of the local hospitals. As long as the hospital is aware that you have chosen All Star Pediatrics, they will keep us informed of your baby's progress while at the hospital and at discharge.

  • How can I meet the providers?
  • We have a monthly Meet the Provider Information Session. These meetings are held via Zoom. Please call the office to be placed on the schedule if you would like an invitation to attend. One of our providers will be available to answer your questions and provide additional information about the practice.

  • What do I do if I am having my first baby and want to be a patient of the practice? Do I need to attend a Meet the Provider session? Do I need to call the office ahead?
  • No. We are very happy and excited to get to know the latest additon to your family but there is nothing you need to do ahead of your baby's delivery. Once the baby is born and you have your discharge date, please call the office and follow the prompts for newborn appointments to schedule your baby's first visit with us! For most newborns, this visit will happen 1-3 days after discharge. Sometimes there is something that the physicians in the hospital want us to follow up with and they will let us know when your baby needs to be seen. There is nothing you need to do ahead of time. Once you schedule your first visit, your newborn paperwork will be sent to you via a text link.

  • How often will All Star need to see my baby in the first 2 years?
  • We follow the AAP schedule of recommended visits for all of our patients. For our youngest All Stars, we will see them at their Newborn visit, 1 Month, 2 Months, 4 Months, 6 Months. 9 Months, 12 months, 15 Months, 18 Months, 24 Months, 30 Months and at 3 Years of age. Once your child has had their 3 year visit, we will start to see them on an annual basis. Sometimes we need to add an extra visits after your baby's first visit to check on their weight or any other concerns.
